I was weaned on Strohs too and drank many $2 pitchers of it in my Pittsburgh
days. Iron City was the local brew, but we called it Iron Sh.tty.
One of my favorites disappeared last fall when Anheiser Busch bought Rolling
Rock. "Old 33" had a saying on the back of each bottle - "Rolling Rock,
from the glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe, we tender this premium beer for
your enjoyment as a tribute to your good taste. It comes from the mountain
springs to you". I could almost write it from memory. Unfortunately, it
now comes from the waters of Newark, NJ - not quite the same thing as
western PA spring water. I bought my last case of the good stuff at the
Weatherly PA hillclimb last Fall. Not quite the memory shared by Mark, but
I must say I have mnay good memories associated with beer!
