After 50 + years those connectors are not the cleanest. I noticed that the Reverse lights are also not working. The switch works but the lights are not coming on. I'm working on cleaning up those connections.
The brake switch works by having an open circuit when the brake pedal is not engaged and closed when the brake pedal moves away from switch. I can jump this circuit and still no lights.
The reverse lights also go through the hazard switch.
I haven't pulled the hazard switch, but the one from my parts bin has 6 connectors and one loose wire. The 69/70 wiring diagram has nine pins and the 68 has 5 pins. Curious to see what's inside.
70 has the plastic connectors vs bullet connectors at the tail lamps. Pull the connectors and look for any corrosion or damage.
Also look at the main harness connectors under/near the brake master for any corrosion or damage. I had corrosion in the crimp on my reverse lamps.
Can’t think of anything else except a broken wire which is unlikelyJoe
