About two weeks ago,  my battery split, spilling acid out. I think it is because my charging voltage is too high. I replaced the battery and just tested and I am getting around 17v at idle, and around 17.6 when I rev the engine. Should be around 14.5 I think. Is that right? This is a 69 1600. I have some parts from 69 and some from 70; I think the alternator is from 70. I believe when i first reinstalled this engine several years ago, I noticed the amp gauge was pegged at the top of its range, so I tried a different voltage regulator.  Didn't change anything.  So how I determine if the alternator is putting out too much voltage? And what do I do to fix it?Thanks in advance.JosephSent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone
