I think it is because my charging voltage is too high. I replaced the battery and just tested and I am getting around 17v at idle, and around 17.6 when I rev the engine. Should be around 14.5 I think. Is that right? This is a 69 1600. I have some parts from 69 and some from 70; I think the alternator is from 70. I believe when i first reinstalled this engine several years ago, I noticed the amp gauge was pegged at the top of its range, so I tried a different voltage regulator. Didn't change anything. So how I determine if the alternator is putting out too much voltage? And what do I do to fix it?</div><div dir="auto">Thanks in advance.</div><div dir="auto">Joseph</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div id="composer_signature" dir="auto"><div style="font-size:85%;color:#575757" dir="auto">Sent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone</div></div></body></html>
