[Roadsters] 1600 tuning issues

OK,
I pulled the coil wire off the cap and arced to the valve cover nut.
Spark- Yes, but it doesn't look very good. Color is white to yellow/orange.
Shouldn't I get a nice big blue arc?

With the timing light,
would you just connect the coil wire as it comes out of
the cap?
