1) More of a heads up - I have NOT used my convertible top for over 3 years -
no need - California don't you know - but I had occasion to remove the boot
the other day and noticed that various components of the actual top were
slowly eroding my stayfast top. Not visible from the outside YET. So I patched
all the bits BEFORE they migrated to the outside. It might be worthwhile to
remove the boot to check on interior wear and patch it.
2) Part of an earlier discussion and please excuse me if you already know
this) - re expanding holes in the sheet metal. One can purchase from Harbor
Freight a 'rivetting' tool that one can use to put in reusable 'blind'
threaded inserts/rivets. I had a problem with the "grille" that is in front of
the windshield - the holes were so big that i had to use screws that
'visually' didn't fit. Using the 6/32 insert with stainless screws (polished -
look like chrome) all is neat, secure and not likely to expand again. One can
also get these inserts in steel as well as aluminum in 6/32 and 8/32.

Berg Hardware in Pasadena and King Bolts in Covina
