[Roadsters] The old 65 helps out one more time for Hurricane Earl

For All,

Some weeks ago I let the list know I was parting out a 65 1600, number 2718.
She is almost gone now, and has helped out about 4 different list members with
good parts deals, plus supplied me with front fenders and a rear clip. The
front fenders had rust in all the usual low down back places but the nose of
them, where there is usually always dents and bondo, is perfect, and the rear
clip has minor dents and rusty dog legs, but is much better than the badly
dented and creased rear half of my running car (which looks good from 20 feet,
but has lots of fiberglass, POR 15, and filler making it so....).

Thought the list would be amused to know there is one more job in life for
number 2718: In preparation for Hurricane Earl, I parked my boat in the grass
to make it harder to roll, lowered the trailer tongue onto the grass, and
dragged half the front suspension (probably about 150 pounds) over and on top
of the trailer tongue to prevent the wind from getting the boat and trailer
underway and pushing it into some other vehicle......so even in death, 2718
has helped one more time!

Hurricane Earl turned out to be no big deal, even though I got an admin leave
day off from work, so I am catching up on E-mails until the storm stops, and
then can start a nice long weekend.

I still need a good set of rocker panels....and then I will be ready to some
day build an (almost) bondo free proper body for my car. I am getting quite
good with my wire feed welder, and will weld up most of the imperfections with
new metal....but of course there is always going to be a slight touch of
filler here and there.

Best Regards,
Jim
