[Roadsters] Continuing Solex Problem

I have a set of old-style Solex carburetors on my 68 Datsun 2000.  They have 
been a never-ending source of  trouble and had been recently rebuilt by an 
expert, but the problem has  continued.  The rear carburetor  works fine, but the 
front carburetor leaks (this may just be an issue with  seals) and the idle 
circuit on the front carburetor doesn't seem to work at  all. 
I'm wondering if the front carburetor idle system is not supposed to work  
and would appreciate hearing from any other owners of solex carburetors as to  
their experiences. 
In particular, if there is anyone in Los  Angeles who would care to consult, 
or at least meet me at  Skip Miller's shop (my mechanic) in Altadena with 
their solex carb roadster, so  we can compare the way they are hooked up.
