[Roadsters] What tires do people like?

I'm finally at the point where I'm about to upgrade from the "repair" tires that I bought on craigslist for $40 (performance specs: up and down the driveway; cornering: optional; road feel: space cadet) to a set of real tires. 

What do people like for a weekend driver? Fun on the roads, comfortable, and not bank-busting.
