Linda, 
I would look for new mechanics.  Re-reading the 311's thread, the one
who wanted to burn it out is particularly scary, or just
lying...Aluminum heads and oxy-acetylene torches don't play well
together.  BTW, How did you finally get yours out? 

Anyway you get it out, anti-seize is needed when reinstalling, so you
don't need to do it again.

If head is still on car it can be damaged. No mechanics would attempt to
remove sender without removing the head first when I checked.
