On Eliza, even though they were new (NOS) both the lower brackets on the 
rear channels snapped.

Too much stress I suppose (possibly faulty installation). And in any case a 
sucky design (IMHO)

Anyhoo, I JB welded a 1/4 inch square piece of steel bar into the bend 
(joint) and it seems to have strengthened it immeasurably. Flexing (if any) 
now occurs away from the bend.

I have only put the driver side back together and it closes with a VERY 
satisfying 'thunk', almost as good as a Rolls. No rattle, just the sound of 
the door lock engaging.\
