[Roadsters] Interesting Wiring

Hi All,
I have started in on my SR20DE engine swap in the '68 1600. The SR has
arrived, the old 1600 is pulled, and I am preparing for body removal. I
first wanted to sort through the engine compartment harness in the
roadster so I could identify where I needed to provide power in, and
where I would get switched and cranking power out. I also am attacking
things I don't need, like the voltage regulator connector, coil wiring,
etc.
I found the EXCELLENT color wiring diagram on the 311s.org site and went
to work. The car is registered as a '69, but has VIN 19360 which makes
it a '68 (fairly common occurrence from what I understand). As I was
disconnecting and labeling everything I first started scratching my head
at the 2 extra wires by the turn signal connections - no, not the fog
lights, 2 other wires. It dawned on me that they were probably
connections to those cool teardrop side markers that the '69 had. I went
back to the 311s.org site and pulled up the '69 wiring diagram, figuring
maybe the later harnesses started being used a bit early.
It turns out that my car is a mix of the two. There are side marker
connections, washer motor connections, and no "passing light" relay per
the '69 diagram. But then I have the 4 connection head lamp relay and
alternator connection configuration shown in the '68 diagram. I'm not
sweating it since everything should still work - just a lesson to not be
too surprised when things are not the way they are "supposed" to be.
