Many of you have been asking what the restrictions the Miner's Day Parade were imposing this year that caused the BMCU to withdraw it's participation.
FYI, below are the final communications between the Parade Committee and the BMCU.
We, the BMCU, will be researching other new and exciting events, to replace this event in the future.
Thanks to Jon, Gary, and all involved in the negotiations to keep the BMCU in the Miner's Day Parade. Your efforts were exemplary and reflected well on the Club.

Heidi,
The BMCU will NOT be participating in the 2015 Miner's Day parade this Labor Day.
The number of cars being limited to twelve is too difficult for us to arrange fairly among our numerous members.
Allowing our usual variable number of sports cars to line up later as Swede Alley empties at the very end of the parade might be something the BMCU would consider in future years. This event has been a club favorite for over twenty years. In the early days the BMCU made up maybe a quarter of the parade as we coasted down Main Street three cars abreast with our engines off and cool, throwing candy to the crowd.
Thanks for these twenty odd years of enjoyable parade participation.
Jon

Hello Jon, I have some answers for you. Many things have changed with our festival the last few years and continue to do so as we grow. We are expecting between 17,000 and 20,000 people this year. With a Larger beer garden, new hard liquor beverage, new fencing requirements, local construction and more, we are having to adjust to the City's requirements and limitations. I hope you and your group can accept my apologies for any unintended inconvenience. Please note the following:*The parking pre-parade will be on Swede Alley. You will be directed to park upon arrival. *Due to limited space and parking we only have room for each car club to enter 12 cars. If you will provide me a list of names of the 12 that will commit to participate we will announce them down the parade route as we announce the entry. *Because the City will no longer allow parking on the grass, we are unable to offer parking in the park. I certainly understand the difficulty of coordinating a large group of people as well as getting solid commitment from even a few. I sincerely hope that your members who have participated and enjoyed Miners Day in the past will want to again. We have very much enjoyed having you all in our parade. I look forward to seeing you on September 7th. Subject: RE: British Motor Club of Utah Parking Heidi, Thanks for confirming the BMCU has a spot in the Miner's Day Parade. We understand being at the mercy of the police when it comes to our parking along Main Street before the parade. Your request though, to allow close double parking of our small cars would be greatly appreciated. Memory says we usually have upwards of twenty to thirty Little British Cars (LBCs) in the Miner's Day Parade. To my knowledge we have never before been limited on the number of LBCs participating. Please do see about accommodating a larger variable number of BMCU cars. It is not reasonable for the BMCU to try and obtain commitments from our 100+ active membership as to who may be planning to participate in a specific club event. We have always operated on the premise that who ever shows up gets to do it. If we have to start telling people who have made the effort to bring their cars to the parade they cannot participate because we are limited on the number of cars it might well be the last year the BMCU participates in the parade as a club. Notifying the club membership ahead of time that only a limited number of cars can participate in the parade would likely not work out very well either. I fear less than the limited number of cars allowed would actually show up for the parade. The BMCU wants to cooperate regarding a car show location down at the park on parade day. Let me know what is finalized, if you can, at least by the time I pick up our paper plate with our "spot" number on it before the parade. Also please have people who know where to direct the BMCU to approved parking as we turn into the park at the end of the parade. I'm looking forward to receiving a Venue Map. Thanks, Jon
