*Hi, this is a specific question to other TR250 owners who've done wire
wheel conversions. I'm considering buying Chrome wire wheels to replace
my 15" painted wire wheels. My question is what "width" can be safely run
considering my car is retro-fitted with a bolt on splined hub conversion
kit versus the factory splined hub. *
**
*I've be given conflicting info from sales staff at Moss Motors and The
Roadster Factory as well as other written articles. Moss says I can't run
a 15" chrome wheel wider than 4-1/2" without rubbing, TRF says I can run a
5-1/2" or even a 6" wheel without rubbing or interference with brakes or
suspension as long as the car hasn't been lowered or fitted with too big of
tire. Most of the articles say 5-1/2" widths are OK to run. *
**
*My current painted wires are a second had set of factory 15", 60 spoke,
5-1/2" wide with 185/65R-15 Pirelli tires. I've never had any
rubbing/interference problems. My car is stock and not lowered. As best I
can tell there are two chrome wire MFG's; Dayton (USA) and Dunlop (made in
India). Both wheels can be purchased from numerous retailers but again
there's conflicting info from each as which wheel is better. I'd like to
hear from anybody who's had good or bad results with either MFG plus what
rim width will really work.*
**
*Chrome wires are too expensive to "just take a chance".*
**
*Thanks to those who can help.*
