The problem with freezing the head gasket is that as it warms, it may pull
the head studs in to the centre of the block again and the cylinder head
will no longer fit over the studs. Check the block for taper, you may have
to install the gasket and the cylinder head from the other side.

Additional advice from a BMC expert in LaVerne California:
If heating the block does not result in proper fit of the head gasket you
must re-heat it with more humidity, the previous heat may have been too dry.
Failing that, you may just have to rent the block-stretcher from Moss
Motors, Standard Motors Special Tool #E110576-BS.
