 If you can turn the pin with a screwdriver it is likely to move again.  There is a jam nut inside the spring.  Work a 1/2 inch open-end wrench between the spring coils and snug it up to make sure it stays where you want it.

Thanks to those who chimed in.  I noticed that the pin was not landing squarely in the hole so I used a screwdriver to turn it 45 degrees and now the hood pops open just like it should._______________________________________________
