Marc---About "American" as one can get is to take in a baseball game on this day. Dodger Stadium, in Los Angeles, is hosting a game against the "Cincinnati Reds" on July 4th. The game starts at 6pm, but suggest getting to the stadium closer to 5pm. (RV parking available, altho at a heftier price.) On this day there will also be a fireworks display after the game. American, indeed!
