I haven't been to a test day at Lime Rock for a few years. The ones I
have been to get a little crazy. Generally too many cars show up, and
even though Lime Rock has a cut off number, it is too crowded. The last
time I was there a Honda Civic rolled on the back straight (and this is
a test day). Some bozo in a Porsche 356 was holding everyone up in the
turns and then trying to race them on the straight bits. A number of
cars were grouped behind Porsche and tried to get by on the back
straight when the Honda was forced off onto the grass. It got sideways
and ended up rolling. This turned out to be a good test day for the
roll bar and harness system, but probably not what the driver had hoped
for.
When I need a test day I go to NHIS. It is cheaper, safer, and they
offer a lot more of them each season. So my advice is to stay away from
the Lime Rock test days unless you want to check your safety gear.
