Royce,

I am not an expert on the inner working of the Quaife, but it would seem
to me that even with a gear set up, something has got to slip inside the
unit for it to be a LS. There are the locker types that are either
locked or unlocked and they would not need the additive. Does the
gearing between the wheels in the Quaife unit allow only limited RPM
differences? I am very intrigued to understand how this thing works. My
observation on the Quaife is not based upon any specific understanding
of how their unit works, so I would welcome hearing from someone who
does understand how Quaife achieves the limited slip operation in their
design.

Phil

It is my impression that the limited slip additive is only needed for
the
clutch type units. Since the Quaife unit is all gear based the limited
slip additive should not be necessary. I am not a mechanic but I do run
Quaife limited slips. One it was first installed the mechanic said to
use
any type of gear oil with it. I wasn't sure about this so I did ask
several other mechanics and racers using various limited slip diffs. I
have been using Swepco by recommendation of Dan Radowicz of Rapid
Motions
but think that Redline would be an excellent choice for lube as well.

Hope it helps!
