        Dear Vaughn and fellow listers,

We certainly hope you will attend so we can show you some Heartland
hospitality. Carl Braun and I are co-chairpersons of this event. What
follows is the news release describing the event, track, and local area.
Feel free to e-mail me personally with any questions.

Several themes for the event are under consideration. We would be
interested in your thoughts. Here are a few: Oktoberfest (featuring German
marks), featured group--formula, sports racers, big bore production, small
bore production, or perhaps a participation contest by country based on car
make (Olympic style but without individual awards to be consistent with the
vintage spirit).

If you would like to end this year at a brand new venue where fun,
track time and the 8/10ths driving philosophy will be the focus, we have the
event for you.

        FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

        VSCDA announces new event
        at Mid-America Motorplex

Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association has added a fall event to the
2002 race schedule. The inaugural Hawkeye Classic will be held at
Mid-America Motorplex, a brand new road coarse located in Pacific Junction,
Iowa, on October 12 and 13.

The 2.2-mile dedicated road coarse features 15 corners, 45-ft. wide
polymer composite racing surface, a 2222ft. main straight, and a 13-acre
paddock. The track is fast and technically challenging--a decreasing radius
turn, an increasing radius turn, fast and slow turns clustered with chicanes
where the proper line will be required for optimal lap times.

At the track, racers will find self-serve Sunoco fuel, air, an
on-site Hoosier dealer, and showers. A recreation area, lake, camping area,
gift shop, beer garden, and savory food choices such as pizza and barbecue
can be enjoyed by all. From the grandstands, the entire circuit can be
viewed--a true spectator treat for a road course.

The weekend schedule will consist of three sessions Saturday and two
sessions Sunday for each race group. Touring will be available during lunch
breaks both days. On Friday, the track will be reserved for VSCDA
test-n-tune use. Either full day or half-day entry is available through the
track.

Omaha, Nebraska, is just 20 minutes away. Excellent dining and
shopping opportunities can be found in the Old Market area. For
entertainment, how about six museums, three casinos and a zoo! A wide
variety of lodging is located at the I-29 / I-80 interchange in Council
Bluffs, Iowa.

Visit the track's website at www.midamericamotorplex.com and VSCDA's
site at www.vscda.org. For additional event information, contact Cliff
Koehler at (816) 932-6704 (ckoehler@amuniversal.com) or Judy Cull at the
VSCDA office (616) 949-8281 (vscda@iserv.net).
