IT'S OFFICIAL !!!
CSRG will stage the first ever vintage sports car race on historic Mare
Island on San Francisco Bay. Mark your calendars for Sept 30 - Oct 1, 2000.
Mare Island was the first Naval Shipyard on the West Coast. Founded in 1854
by Admiral David Farragut, Mare Island became a top secret base during the
war years and has only recently been deactivated.
The race will cover 1.75 miles through twisting residential tree lined
streets, with elevation changes and views of the Bay. Imagine charging uphill
on the "Wahoo" curve, flat out between the parade grounds and The Bay, then.
between the towering Eucalyptus trees before flashing past the grandstands.
This event will be promoted extensively by the City of Vallejo. Huge crowds
are expected and many other displays and activities will be available
adjacent to the Parade Ground Paddock.
This is without question the finest season of the year to visit the Bay Area,
days are warm and clear with little, if any, fog at night.
Due to the uneven pavement surfaces, race entries will be limited to
production cars. This event will be oversubscribed and existing CSRG members
will be given preference, so if you're interested, it may be time to join
this premier organization.
Details will be provided as planning progresses. For membership information,
please write to CSRG P.O Box 825, Danville, Ca. 94526
See you at the races !
