Tony,
You're right. There were two purple MInis, and Grammer was the other driver.
McDaniels was the team boss, and won most of the races, including the first
three C-sedan national championships (1966/67/68). In 1966-67 they were
Cadillac purple, but for 1968 they repainted them white. Bob Merrill bought
the McDaniels car about 5-10 yrs ago and restored it to 1967 condition (very
nice). It was still a screamer and race winner. When he wasn't vintage racing
it, he won another Southwest division SCCA national championship with it! And
it still was running the original "Cooper S" short block that it had won
three national championships with. Bob sold it some time ago. The Grammer car
has been butchered with glass nose, etc. and is now red, unfortunately. There
was another Mini run by Danny Poore that had help from Overseas Motors, but
was never purple.
