Have you pulled your hubs and axles apart during the winter and had them
crack tested? I took some stuff off of the e prod TR4 I bought (with the
hope of someday vintage racing it). I took it to a place that tests
suspension components for an Indy car team. I brought them 6 rear axles,
4 front hubs, 4 rear hubs, 2 complete sets of front suspension arms,
front fulcrum pins, and some other stuff. They rejected 2 front hubs and
2 axles, the rest was ok. With the age of our cars and the other points
you memtioned, periodic crack testing is a worthwhile investment if it
can help prevent you from experienceing the types of catastrophic
failures some of our friends on this list have experienced. There are
still no guarantees, but you do improve your odds.
