'79 TVR Taimar [unofficial] 5000.

Converted in '89 by John Wadman of TVR North America, who sold all 8 Taimar
5000's between '77-'79 to North American customers as a factory model. Mine
was his 9th and last "5000", but it has no factory papers. Engine: Ford 302,
built to produce close to 300hp. Mounted low and back, weighing only about
50lbs more than the original Ford Essex V6. Blueprinted, polished, with
numerous Motorsport parts. New 650cfm Holley. New full MSD
distributor/ignition with rev limiter. Remote oil filter and oil cooler. New
Howe Racing aluminum rad with electric fan. Transmission: Borg Warner T55 [5
speed]. Rear-end: Salibury diff. New Spaxs. Front-end: Newly re-worked with
Heim-linked anti roll bar; all urethane bushings, aluminum steering rack
mounts. New Pro Shock/Afcoil [fully rebuidable] coil overs with spherical
bearing ends. Brakes: Front - 4 piston Wilwood calipers, Hawke "hard road"
pads, larger vented rotors. Rear - "hard road" shoes. Wheels/Tires: 4 near
spotless 14" Wolfraces, with 2 mos. old Kuhmo V700 road legal track tires,
and 4 older Yoko 008's. Exterior/Interior: Taken down to the gel coat in
'89, painted red with gun metal gray lower panels, in excellent condition.
Interior is black, original, also in excellent shape.

The car has been pampered, always garaged, driven 1000mi. per year - mostly
to driving schools. It weighs 2320lbs wet, balanced almost 50/50, and has
fine track manners. Reason for Sale: hoping to move to vintage racing.
Price: C$22,000/U$15,000. Way less than my cost. To my knowledge, the last
two trades in "official" 5000's occurred 2-3 years ago [both through J.
Wadman] at close to U$20,000 and U$25,000. Car location: Toronto. Contact:
Gavin, tel. 416-480-6458. Pics can be e-mailed on request.
