That's also what the parts catalog says, "approx 56377".  Likely there
simply never was a 'clean' break point, especially since cars were not
necessarily finished in commission number order.  I don't see where anyone
can say that you are "wrong" if you keep the 10", or switch to the 9".

And that is correct, the Girling 10" brakes used the return springs to hold
the shoes against the (adjustable) backing pins, instead of the more common
nail & spring arrangement.  It seems to work fine; except you can get a
strange clunk if the backing pins are worn enough to be out of adjustment.
