Yesterday there were a few threads on removing the pins on the hinges for the
SS luggage rack. Here is a simple solution that I just did. Major expense item
is a 2 for $1.00 1-1/4" throat "C" clamp (cheap China stuff) Pull off the
little flat head on the screw/crank, leaving a pointed stub on the end of the
screw. Remove the screw/crank. Put it in a vise with the open screw hole
facing up. Get a 3" long 1/8" and 3/16" drill bit. Put the 1/8" bit through
the screw hole and drill through the other end of the c-clamp. (base) Then
follow up with the 3/16". This should make the hole big enough to push the pin
right through while holding the other side with the base of the c clamp. Just
gently screw down the crank. Big Note - make sure the crank is on the end of
the pin that is not flattened. I have sent pic's of this to a few listers. If
you want the pic's just let me know.
