I do hope you're kidding, Mark. The OD shares oil with the transmission and
has a pressurized oiling system ... it can't help sharing any FOD with the
transmission. If your old OD wasn't at least disassembled and cleaned when
the transmission was rebuilt, you've now got a transmission full of FOD
again ... which has to be cleaned if you install a rebuilt OD.

They actually last an amazingly long time.

I'd suggest you ask ORS that question. Be sure to ask about shipping costs
as well, they can be considerable. There's at least some chance you might
be better off forfeiting your core charge to them, and selling your old OD
here in the US ... they seem to be worth a good deal more here due to
scarcity.

Another possibility perhaps : buy a non-OD transmission to install and enjoy
while your OD one is being rebuilt. Non-OD TR6 transmissions are common and
cheap, you can probably pick one up for $100 and resell it for the same
price.
