When it happened to me (years ago on a non-LBC), changing oil did not help.
There was clearly a thin, sticky coating on the pressure relief valve, which
could only be seen if you scraped it off, but enough to keep the valve from
closing under it's own spring pressure. Of course I can't prove that was
due to using Castrol ... but I switched brands and never had the problem
again in 32 years.

Randall,

20 years ago, I (was much younger/more adventurous and) road raced
motorcycles. For the first couple of years, I was paying for everything
myself and since I had always used Castrol in my LBCs, I used it in the race
bikes. I distinctly remember that the Castrol left a milky film on most of
the engine internal surfaces. When I asked my engine guy about it, he said
that Castrol "always does that" and not to worry about it. After I was
racing for a few years, Kendall started partially sponsoring me so I stopped
using Castrol in the race bikes. After a bit of time using Kendall, the
milky film inside the engine disappeared.
