Alan, congrats on your 71 gt6. i did a major restoration myself the last 2
years. the one thing i regret is, while the engine, interior was out, i did
not repaint the frame - engine bay. i strongly suggest you do them as well as
the body. it just really stands out when you lift the bonnet and it is not as
pristine as outside. so easy to do while everything is out. if first gear is
making noise, i'd search for a nice electric overdrive tranny on ebay or other
