Hello all:
I'm a new guy on the block. By way of introduction, I'm recently retired,
my first car (40 years ago) was a '59 TR3A, I am just finishing my first
nuts and bolts restoration ('60 TR3A) and I'm having fits with the wiring.
The "car" came to me in boxes (no parts were labeled), so she - "Betty Lou"
- and I have established a very intimate relationship.
The pieces came with a wiring harness that seems to be usable for anything
from a TR2 to a TR3A (and maybe even a TR4). Problem is, the only wiring
diagram that I could find was for a TR2. Most of the info applied, but I
have a few wires left over (could be due to not reinstalling the electric
overdrive or the heater). I think I am pretty close to correct on the
wiring, but I'm having some trouble with the starter. The solenoid seems to
be working (there is more than just clicking - definitely mechanical action
in there), but the starter won't do anything. The engine and trans were
rebuilt by a restorer before I bought the car, and I believe that the
starter is new. There is only one lead to the starter (from the solenoid,
of course) so I assume that it is internally grounded. I've done the
obvious stuff like check the grounds to the chassis and the engine block to
make sure that I have metal to metal (I converted to negative ground), but
still can't make the starter budge.
Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for a TR3A TS>6000 and does
anyone have ideas about the starter?
