I don't believe that for a minute.  I have seen many Jaguars with painted
wire wheels.  Painted several different colors, not just silver.  BTW, the
splines are larger than those used on TR, MG, Sunbeam, et al.

I saw an MGTD at Capitol Cruisers the last few Saturday nights.  It has
chrome wire wheels.  Not the MGTF wires you generally see on MGTD cars, but
chrome Boroni(sp?) wire wheels which were put on at the dealer when the car
was new in 1951.  Not original, but definitely period!  Current owner had
them restored when he figured out the story.  He was going to put on TF
wheels until he found they did not fit, and the seller of the wheels had no
TF splines.
