Piggott and the SPC both agree that the TR3 grill was fitted to the very
first TR3.  Actually, given that the seller described a car with the wrong
engine as 'restored', and his next line "The change to the widemouth grille
was made during the 1956 model year."; I believe he is talking about the
switch to the TR3A grill (which of course did not happen until late in
1957).  And, I believe the chrome surround was actually introduced before
the end of the TR2, in a slightly different form than the TR3.  Assuming the
car actually is a TR3, I'd guess it's had a TR2 grill (or possibly the
entire front apron) installed.
