Randall,
No, I have never driven the car so I don't know if it is 3 or 4 synchro. It
was not in running condition when I bought it. It has changed hands a few
times since it last ran so the history of the car is a mystery to me. The car
has had at least five different shades of paint. Why would someone put a TR4A
engine in a TR4 and then put a TR3B trans with non-synchro first gear in?
Maybe that is all that was available. Too bad it doesn't have OD.

I just looked at the VTR web site section on Commission Numbers and Selected
Modifications. According to that, the first TR3B, commission # TSF1 had the
TR4 all synchro gearbox. The last TSF # was 530. Then they changed to TCF1
which had the TR4 engine. So my gear box could be the 4-synchro but why is
it 10 40 if they only went up to 530?
