OK, what should be done to prep new pistons before installation? Kas
Kastner says to polish all over, to prevent coking. Other sources talk
about blasting with a fine abrasive to enhance oil retention. I've also
found a place that ceramic coats the tops, dry film lubricant on the sides,
and a thermal barrier on the bottom. See:

So, is any of this worth-while? The theory behind the ceramic coating
(which probably wasn't available them Kas Kastner wrote the comp prep
manual) seems sound (keeping the combustion heat in the chamber), but then
most snake oil sounds good when the salesman is talking :-).
