Yes, same basic wet-liner engine!

No, the Vanguard and its derivatives would have been a "big brother" to the
Standard 8 and 10, which were smaller unit-bodied, 803cc or 948cc-powered
(the engine that later powered Heralds and -- in various developed forms --
Spitfire, and -- in 6-cylinder form -- GT6s, Vitesses and TR5/6).
