Been trying to figure how to remove it w/o wrecking the case. (Not really 
trying too hard as it was replaced by an all syncro O/D box) so I don't 
really need it.

Doug, it is fairly easy to remove if you are willing to sacrifice both the
fork and the shaft.  All you have to so is cut the shaft between the fork
and the lever end of the shaft.
