Randall,
Many thanks. I have already done this on the TR6 box but, the previous 
owner's mech welded the fork to the shaft, both sides! This was on the 
original TR3 box which I replaced. 
Can I cut the shaft w/o developing so much heat that I would damage the case? 
Ironically  the clutch worked fine and I doubt that the fork will ever move 
on the shaft :o)
In any case it is a spare so no big deal. (Iwouldn't want to sell it this way 
though)
