I've got Halogen lights in my gauges and I love them. Besides making the
instruments readable at night they make it possible to see the warning
lights in bright sunlight. Dimly lit instruments take more time to read and
keep your eyes off the road longer.

I suppose on an unlit country road the instruments could too bright on a
moonless night, but we don't have many unlit country roads here in the
Chicago area.

If I could have just one halogen lamp I'm not sure if I would use it for
the turn signal indicator or the oil pressure warning light.
