I agree it's best to at least check the mfgr's spec for tire diameter
(if you're worried about such things), but let's not forget that this is
an approximation at best.  Factors such as wheel width, car weight, air
pressure, even outdoor temperature will affect the effective tire
diameter.  Plus, the factory speedometers were simply never that
accurate to begin with.  A 1/4" change in effective tire diameter is
less than 1%, which is far better than you can expect from a stock
speedo.

This is why the folks running TSD rallys frequently fit more accurate
speedos, and calibrate them before every event.
