Ed,

There was a thread a year ago talking about additives in general and slick 50 in
particular. Many e-mail contained links to articles about the pros and cons of
additives. The general conclusion was that they do nothing that a good oil cant
do. Slick 50 was singled out because it contains pulverized silicon which will
plug up your filter etc. I believe there are some web pages and articles on
Redline's web site which talk about additives.

One listener stated that if any of the additives were worth anything, the oil
companies would already have it present in their blend.

I use no additives in either my work car - truck, or my classics. They run fine.
The 3A uses little oil, the T140V uses none. Oil pressure is what it should be.
After a run, are they hot, you bet.

It sounds like you have a rebuild in your future. If that oil is not leaking, it
is going out the exhaust some how I would guess.
