Tom,
It sounds like you need to adjust the solenoid on the OD per the instructions
in your trusty workshop manual. Unfortunately you usually have to remove the
gearbox tunnel to get at it unless you have an original cardboard tunnel that
has an inspection plate. Before you do that test for an electrical fault by
operating the OD switch with the gearbox in 3rd or 4th gear and the key on.
You should hear the solenoid clicking as it operates. Also check the oil
level in the gearbox.

Yeah TR250`s are a real trip to ride in. It`s like your in a custom
Low-rider. You get use to it after a while and it will seem almost normal.
Until you get back in a TR6, GT6 or something that is normal.

I have an original 250 black boot in real good condition that I am not using
because it has shrunk just a little and is a real pain to install. I will
try to bring it to Breckinridge so you can have a look to see if you want it.

Good luck with you new TR250. "Triumph against Conformity"
