I would not remove the bolts that hold the spring pan to the wishbones. 
Although the spring pan will most likely remain trapped by the two
studs, even with the bolts out, why take the chance ?  Surely it's
better to wait for the compressor, rather than risk damaging something
(like yourself).

Regardless of how they look when they come out, the cotter pins, like
the Nyloc nuts, should all be replaced.  Cotter pins are a common
hardware store item and should be readily available in quantity. 
However, if memory serves, they aren't all the same size ...  Same thing
goes for the Nyloc nuts.

I don't know of any reason that new castellated nuts wouldn't be just as
good or better than the old ones, but they may be difficult to find in
exactly the same form factor.  ISTR the ones on the spring pan are an
unusual width and height for their thread size.
