Some smaller American cars use 1/4" dia hinge pins ( ~ 81 and up K car, some 
GM).  These should be available at any decent autoparts.  If the hinges are 
worn around the pin area, you might be able to enlarge the holes and install 
bushings.  ( also available at the autoparts.)
