Hi, Steve! Figured you would chime in here; glad you did. And you've pretty
much hit on my own personal feelings here. Basically, these cars will have
(with very, very few if any documented exceptions*) TSF or TCF numbered
engines to go with their TSF or TCF commission numbers. If they DON'T have
such engines, to me it lowers the value. Let's face it, a goodly percentage
of TR2/3/3A's on the road today have been "updated" to the 3B/4 engine and/or
gearbox specification, so what except the numbers can separate the 3B from
any other side curtain car?

*Actually, the one exception I've seen worked the other way around. Many
years ago, a member of our local club (Adirondack Triumph Association) owned
one of the very, very last TR3A models, and the engine in the car -- by
number (TSF) -- should have been one of the very FIRST TR3B engines!
Original? Don't know, but it's seems possible!
