If its like a TR6, then your battery ground cable should go as follows: Battery (-) Term to Bolt on Vehicle body to Bolt on transmission-engine. If you are just connected from Battery to engine, then the car will run , but ground to the rest of the car via items like your choke cable (does your choke cable knob get warm ?)
