Dave-
Hot brakes- feel each wheel hub after a ride, they should all be
mildly warm, but more important, they should be the same temp left-right. (
front to back may vary) maybe dragging a brake?
The oil stink may be blowby from your road draft tube. ( Aka
not-so-positive-crankcase vent) After a vigorous drive, do you see a bit
more whitish 'smoke' from the tube? This may be finding its way into the
cockpit through the firewall or around the tunnel seems. Is the car a hot
runner? If the tranny is out of lube, the burning smell is that of your
wallet.

Another one for you smarties
Im still trying to figure out all the smells of the car. Theres the strange
stench from the fiberglass insulation i laid out under the carpet and the
familiar smell of burning oil. On hard or long runs I notice a different
smell. Almost smells like brakes but cant be since Im not braking hard at
all.

I know this is a strange question but aside from burning oil and coolant
what other intoxicating aromas might one experience while driving a TR and
what might be causing them? i.e. what does a tranny smell like if theres no
fluiF?
Hope someone can help me!

Thanks
David Lee
