This amount of play is excessive, the fact that it only rubs four of the
contacts is probably because this is the direction that the points are
pushing the shaft. To the best of my knowlege the bushes aren't available
new. I recently rebuilt my dizzy using the bushes of a low
mileage four cylinder Lucas dizzy, even after so many years the bushes are
still made to the original specs. I don't know if this is an option for you
as it requires the presence in a bone yard of a more modern car with Lucas
ign, the dizzy I used came from a car fitted with the A+ series engine (it
is called a Maestro) with electronic ign.(shame its not a 4cyl you can use
the whole lot) more details on

you could get new bushes made up from some sintered bronze stock, or you
could go the whole hog and get a new dizzy.
