For the last several years my '74 MK IV Spitfire has been
mostly in storage across the country from where I lived,
but now it's in my hands again.

Among other things, it needs new tires. The tires it has now are
the same no-name 165SR13 radials that were on it when I
bought it 8 years ago.

The car has 13 x 4.5" factory bolt-on wire wheels.

What is the equivalent of 165SR13 in today's nomenclature?
Is it 165/80R13? The available tires in this size seem sort
of wimpy. Would something a little wider, like 175/70,
fit on the 4.5" wheels?

Any recommendations on brands? The Pirelli P4000
comes in 175/70. Would this be a reasonable choice?

Also, can I trust a "normal" shop not to botch up
a wheel alignment of this car? If anyone can recommend
a Triumph-friendly wheel alignment place in central New Jersey,
I would really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot,

Doug Braun

P.S.: I found this list very helpful back in 1993, when I
was last driving this car regularly. It's nice to find
that it is still around.
