Dave,

A couple of problems with using a hacksaw. a) It isn't easy, and b)
you'll have to replace the bushing - these don't exactly just slip in
and out of the casing.

I assume you've soaked the bugger with your favorite penetrating fluid?
If so, soak it some more! 3 times a day for 3 days. Then try pressing it
out with a "C" clamp (socket over the bolt head).

If that doesn't work, then it's hacksaw time. You'll have to assemble
the hacksaw in place, since the cuts are boxed in by pieces of frame on
the Mk 2 Herald chassis. If the body is still on the frame you'll
probably need to make some room to operate the saw. You might try taking
the diff apart, so that just the rear casing is left on the car. Then
you can swing it up out of the way. This does NOT commit you to a major
diff overhaul! Of couse if the body is off you've already got all the
room you need.
