All,

Northern California does not have a monopoly on long-distance
rallies for vintage vehicles. Sunday 21 February is the start
of an inforrmal 1000 mile tour of the backroads of Southern California.
The event starts 7.30am, at Main Street and Washington, in Julian.
Sunday night will be spent in Death Valley.

Anyone with a motor vehicle 25 years and older can participate.
A love of old cars driven by crazy people helps :)

No T-shirts, no dash plaques!

Xerox'd course details will be available to drivers on the morning of
the event. The event is being staged because the "other" rallys run
in SoCal often have outrageous entry fees (would you believe $1000-$2000?).

This is a very low-key event, and I'll be taking the Pantera. Dave
Dickson, a Mate of mine who drives an MG, will co-drive.

So far, there are over 100 cars that will attend; mostly American
and German iron.

I'd suggest bringing a cell-phone; even though there are many other
entrants, some of whom may stop to help in the event of a breakdown,
you are on your own!

There are no dirt roads, but at least 10% of the roads are not
listed on California maps by the Auto. Club of Southern California.
The route will take us through Twenty Nine Palms, Baker, Furnace Creek,
Stovepipe Wells. Day 2 will include 58&395, Victorville, Lake
Arrowhead and Beaumont. Alternate route on day 2 is Barstow and Palm
Desert.

Please call me for more information (619/454-4656). I have a list
of hotels in Death Valley, and Julian.

This event is unsponsored, unofficial, unorganized, non-political,
non-fattening and low in cholesterol.

Be there, or hear about it from your buddies and eat your heart out!
